MOVING DAY

[ the school grounds are swamped with cargo-filled vehicles, and people all around are exchanging teary-eyed goodbyes with family members and lugging heavy bags full of their belongings around. it's going to be a busy day of settling in, newcomers, but you can probably commiserate and help each other bring in your belongings, before relaxing outside with ice cream that the RAs are giving out as a reward for your efforts. fun times! ]

Eh, is that so? [ she blinks down at the map, trying to figure it out, and finally makes a small humming noise like she understands ] So, what room are you staying in...?

I'm in 201, in this dormitory right here! What are you looking for?

Wow, really? I'm in 203! That means we must be close, right?

[agelessobsession]

That's true! Ah -- [She carefully sets a bag down and holds out her hand.] I'm Youmu. It's a pleasure to meet you.

[idoldreams]

[ she shakes her hand enthusiastically ] Miku, Miku Hatsune! And same here! What grade are you gonna be starting, Youmu?

[agelessobsession]

I'll be a fifth year! Are you an upperclassman? You seem to know what's going on.

[idoldreams]

Ehe, actually, I'm starting fifth year too... [ she scratches at the back of her head ] --But, I'm glad! We'll be living close by, and starting the same grade, so we should become good friends, right?

[agelessobsession]

Oh, is that so? [Well, then. She was going to give herself some leeway if Miku was an upperclassman, but someone the same age as her is already seemingly this prepared... Ahh, no matter.] I'm sure we'll see a lot of one another. We'll surely become good friends.

[idoldreams]

[ emphasis on the 'seemingly', Youmu. don't worry. :") ] So you think so too? Great! [ she beams ] Hey, let's go find your room together. We can talk more while we walk!

Right, of course. [She picks her bags up and begins to walk.] It's a good thing we're near one another, then.

Mm! And I already know the way really, really well, since it took me and my parents three whole trips to get everything out of the car, and then two upperclassmen helped me find the way there again when I got lost... ehehe.

[agelessobsession]

Wow, three trips... The upperclassmen are helpful, then? That's good to hear.

[She holds the door open for her, stepping to the side.]

I guess three is a lot, huh... [ a small, embarrassed laugh ] It's my first time leaving home, and I didn't know what to take, so I figured it was better safe than sorry, right? And yeah, everyone I met so far has been super nice!

-- Ah, Youmu, too! Thank you. [ smiling brightly at the gesture, she passes through the door ]

I suppose it's good to know they're kind. [She smiles nervously.] I only have these two, [she holds her bags up a bit] I was nervous it was too much. When I got here, everyone seems to have so much, I wonder if I packed too lightly or... Ah, well, it's not a big problem.

[She follows her.] Of course. I believe our rooms are on the second floor, so... Ah, the stairs must be this way.

[idoldreams]

I'm sure you'll be okay! I think it's a good thing, like, um... it makes you look more independent, and not spoiled! You know? And if you're missing anything, you can always ask your parents to drop by and bring it, right?

-- Yes, right! I knew that. [ no she didn't but ssh ]

Oh, I don't know about that... And, well, I'm sort of on my own now. I never did know my parents, though I suppose I could contact someone from the town I grew up in if it was necessary.

[She heads up the stairs, glancing at the room numbers until she locates 201.] I suppose this is mine! Yours must be close by.

[idoldreams]

Y-you don't know your parents? [ she clamps a hand over her mouth, as mortified as she is embarrassed ] I'm sorry, I shouldn't have assumed--!

Ah, y-yeah, that's right...

[agelessobsession]

Oh, ah -- Don't worry about it! It's a rare case, so... Ah, do you need help finding your room, or...?

[idoldreams]

Thanks... [ she scratches the back of her neck ] No, it's okay, I've got it from here! I can get lost pretty easily sometimes, but even I'm not that lost a case, ehe.

[agelessobsession]

Alright. [She fishes in her pocket for her key.] It was nice meeting you.

[idoldreams]

S-same here! [ ahh, man, she feels terrible now. she hopes she hasn't forever ruined Youmu's impression of her, she really does look like such a nice girl! ] Um, I'm sure I'll be seeing you again soon, so I'll be looking forward to that! I hope we can both get settled in okay!

[agelessobsession]

Sure, I'll see you around! [She slides the key into the lock, opening the door.] Have a nice day.

[ well, she doesn't seem to be upset... that's good! Miku smiles a little, relieved ] Thank you. You too!

[ she waves Youmu goodbye, and then turns around, making her way to her own room ]
